Adult Choir at University Presbyterian Church
Enriching Worship Through Music and Community
At University Presbyterian Church (UPC), the Adult Choir is a cornerstone of our worship experience, bringing the transformative power of music to our congregation and the broader Baton Rouge community. Rooted in our mission to foster faith and fellowship, the choir not only enhances our worship services with a diverse and inspiring repertoire but also creates a tight-knit community where members form deep, lasting connections. Located on the edge of Louisiana State University’s campus, UPC welcomes all—LSU students, faculty, staff, and local residents—to join this vibrant ministry, regardless of musical experience. Come share your voice and be part of something truly special!
The Role of the Adult Choir
The Adult Choir plays a vital role in enriching UPC’s worship services, creating a sacred atmosphere that uplifts and inspires. From fall through spring, the choir leads worship during the 11:00 a.m. Sunday service, performing a wide-ranging repertoire that includes traditional hymns, contemporary anthems, gospel, and classical pieces. This diversity reflects our commitment to enhancing the spiritual experience for all worshippers, connecting the congregation to God through the beauty of music.
During the summer months, our worship shifts to a 10:00 a.m. service, where soloists and small ensembles take the lead, often joined by instrumentalists such as pianists, violinists, or guitarists to add depth and variety. These performances create an intimate and reflective worship experience, complementing the choir’s work throughout the year. Whether through full choral arrangements or smaller musical offerings, the Adult Choir helps make worship at UPC a meaningful and inclusive celebration of faith.
A Community of Connection
Beyond its musical contributions, the Adult Choir is a close-knit community that fosters friendship, support, and spiritual growth. Members describe the choir as a “family within the church,” where rehearsals and performances become opportunities to build meaningful relationships. Whether you’re a seasoned singer or new to choral music, the choir welcomes you with open arms, creating a space where everyone can contribute and feel valued. This sense of belonging makes the choir a powerful way to connect with others in the UPC congregation and deepen your involvement in our faith community.
