UPC is committed to community outreach, mission support, and Christian advocacy of peace and justice issues. We are connected to many local organizations, programs, and projects whose objectives reflect the aims of compassionate discipleship. UPC distributes benevolences to about a dozen agencies and urban missions, as well as to our missionary family in Africa, the Cuban presbytery, and our partner church in San José de los Ramos. UPC also supports a local minority elementary school and participates in the Volunteers in Public Schools reading program. From time to time UPC, coordinates citizen responses to legislative debates on issues of justice and equality, and organizes special lunches or events to call attention to mission initiatives or social problems that cry out for humanitarian response.

UPC benevolence contributions include: 
Big Buddy Program, Park Elementary, the Cuban Presbytery, Interfaith Caregivers, the Interfaith Foundation, the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, Together Baton Rouge, HIV/AIDS ministry, the Heifer Project, Habitat for Humanity, Living Waters, the One Stop Homeless Center, the Battered Women’s program and the Iris Center, and our missionary family, the Sthreshleys. Through the Local and World fund, UPC also responds to emerging needs, sending contributions to disaster relief funds or to inspiring but underfunded operations like the orphanage My Brother’s Keeper in Liberia.
